Unbinds the device from your name. The next person to pick it up must say who
they are before anything they do reaches the log.
Night is the default because white light costs about twenty minutes of adapted
night vision, and this screen is used in a dark cockpit.

The screen holds the orientation you pick and does not follow the device. A
screen that flips while you are bracing against a swell and reaching for
“Tack” is a mis-tap, not a convenience.
Your microphone in a manoeuvre
Open is the default and the right answer for almost everybody: the
microphone opens by itself when you speak, so during a manoeuvre you touch
nothing at all. Push to talk puts a button on the call screen for a
berth where the microphone must stay shut. Open mic sends everything,
for when the automatic answer is getting it wrong.
This browser will not hold the orientation.
iOS gives no app the ability to lock rotation. The layout changes, but the
screen still turns with the device — use the iPhone’s own
Rotation Lock in Control Centre to hold it.

numbers normally match hers. A difference means this phone has not taken

This updates the vessel, not this phone. One package carries all
three: the software she runs, the app she serves, and the Android app.
She takes it from the signed repository over her own uplink and restarts
— never by herself, and never while a call is running.
Afterwards each phone takes the new app from her on its own, and an
Android phone is offered the new Android app below.
This updates the app on this phone only. It asks the boat which
build she is serving and takes that one. There is no internet involved
and no update server — the appliance is the only source. To change what
she serves, update the vessel below.
It comes from this vessel over her own wifi. Android will ask you to
confirm — it always does for an app that did not come from a shop, and
there is no shop on a boat.
Stuck on an old build
This clears the copy of the app held by this icon and fetches it again
from the boat. Opening /reset in the browser does not help here:
an app started from the home screen keeps its own separate copy, which the
browser cannot reach. The ship’s log is on the boat and is not touched.
